Our Story

Hi, we're the Lamberts—a Navy veteran and a school teacher from Mystic, Connecticut.

 

While serving in the Navy, I attended a thermal imaging school in Massachusetts where a home-roasting instructor introduced me to something I had never experienced before: truly fresh coffee.

 

Before that, coffee was simply fuel. Long days aboard submarines meant drinking coffee loaded with cream and sugar just to make it palatable. That first freshly roasted cup changed everything. Instead of bitterness, I discovered natural sweetness, complexity, and flavor. From that moment on, I wanted to learn everything I could about coffee roasting and sourcing exceptional beans.

 

As my passion grew, I searched for a name that connected my Navy background with this new journey. I wanted something that represented direction, purpose, and staying true to your course.

 

That's how Absolute Bearing Coffee Company was born.

 

In navigation, an absolute bearing is a precise direction to a destination. For me, coffee became a compass of its own, a reminder to pursue craftsmanship, quality, and the things that truly matter. Every roast became an opportunity to learn, improve, and share something meaningful with others. My mission became simple: roast coffee in a way that highlights its natural sweetness and character, making cream and sugar optional rather than necessary.

Today, we proudly roast small batches of specialty coffee and carefully selected teas, focusing on quality, freshness, and consistency. Whether you're starting your morning, tackling a challenge, or sharing a cup with friends, we believe great coffee can make everyday moments better.
